Duplex stainless steel pipe has good weldability. Compared with ferritic stainless steel and
austenitic stainless steel, it is neither like the weld heat
affected zone of ferritic stainless steel, nor is it sensitive to
weld hot crack as austenitic stainless steel because of severe
grain coarsening.

Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel
The main alloying elements of duplex steel are Cr, Ni, Mo and N.
Among them, Cr and Mo increase ferrite content, while Ni and N are
austenite stable elements. Some steels also contain elements such
as Mn, Cu and W. Cr, Ni and Mo can improve the corrosion
resistance. In the chloride-containing environment, its pitting and
crack corrosion resistance is particularly good.

Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel Pipe
Standard: ASTM A240/A240M--01 chromium 2205 duplex stainless steel
alloy is a 22%, 2.5% 4.5%-NI-n alloy composition Mo and duplex
stainless steels. It has high strength, good toughness and good
global and local resistance to stress corrosion.
Heat treatment performance:
2205 alloy should be annealed at the lowest temperature of 1900º F,
then cooled rapidly and quenched by water. This treatment is
applied to solid melting annealing and stress relief. Stress relief
treatment, if carried out at temperatures below 1900º F, can easily
lead to the precipitation of harmful metal or non-metal phases.
